Bicycling around Venice, FL is a great activity while visiting. “A Silver-rated bicycle-friendly community” is how the League of American Bicyclists has rated the City of Venice. One of the first things you will notice next time you visit our beautiful city is how many people of all ages are enjoying riding their bikes all around town!
When The Legacy Trail opened up in 2008, it cost more than $33 million. Sarasota County had purchased over 10 miles of former CSX rail line, then removed the tracks and laid down a 12 foot wide asphalt path. Benches with shelters were set in place every mile or so. Several bridges were replaced and large bridges installed over Dona and Roberts Bays. Eventually plans are in place to increase the northern and southern ends of the trail. Before too long, biking enthusiasts hope to be able to ride from Payne Park in Sarasota all the way to North Port.
Guests who stay here at Inn At The Beach often bring their bikes with them. We have a bicycle rack located for your use right on property. We can also help you find a nearby bike rental delivery service. Once you get started you can utilize on-street bike lanes or stay totally on trails like the Legacy Trail or the Venetian Waterway Park Trail. The Venetian Waterway Park follows along both sides of the beautiful Intracoastal Waterway. Click for a map of the two trails: Click here
