“Christmas waves a magic wand over the world and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful.”
The Christmas holidays evoke many beautiful memories here at the Inn. For the past 10 years, Front Desk Guest Services Representative Cassandra Chelf has been the primary decorator for all of our Christmas displays. Over the years we have had the pleasure of seeing many different themes evolve. Guests may recall enjoying a Teddy Bear theme, a Seashell theme, a Tartan plaid theme, Red and Gold, Silver and Gold, among others. This year’s theme is a surprise but you will love it!
Many guests make their reservations far in advance so that they may enjoy the beautiful decorations and friendly atmosphere of this special season. Our guests look forward to two spectacular events held in Venice to celebrate the start of this magical time of year. The Santa Parade (The largest event of the year here in Venice,) is always held the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Thousands of people line Venice Avenue to see the floats, antique vehicles, fire and police equipment, marching bands, organizations, and all kinds of participants and pets marching along, ahead of the main attraction, the Jolly old Elf himself: Santa! At least one float will shoot sprays of “snow” into the crowd and the onlookers old and young alike scramble for candy treats thrown from the floats. The following Saturday, the Boat Parade is held along the Intracoastal Waterway, just after dark. Many boats are decorated with lights, musical effects, and happy, waving “sailors” dressed in Santa hats, elf costumes, Grinch attire, and Charlie Brown outfits. It’s all in fun! What a spectacular treat for everyone. Both events are totally free. Just bring your blanket or beach chair and enjoy the show!
If you can take a stroll down Venice Avenue during the Holiday Season, make sure you bring your camera! Inn At the Beach is always beautifully decorated. Nearby are several magnificent homes that always put on a spectacular display, and often, one of Santa’s helpers can be found sitting on a local park bench, ready to talk to the children and “Young at Heart.” About 3 blocks away, in front of City Hall, a lighted display of marine animals and zoo creatures entertains everyone lucky enough to come here and share in all the fantastic holiday atmosphere! Please enjoy a trip down memory lane with our pictures of Christmases past!
