The varied beaches
Venice Beach actually has a wide variety of beaches, each with its own distinct advantages. These include Casperson Beach, which has pavilions and a playground, in addition to being an excellent place to hunt for sharks’ teeth. Two-thirds of the beachfront has been left in its natural state. South Brohard Beach is also home to the county’s only beach area that allows dogs. Amenities are both people and dog-friendly, including drinking fountains for both. Venice Beach itself is a popular spot for divers, since it has a reef of fossilized material about a quarter-mile offshore.
The community is home to more than 10 public-play golf facilities, many of which have more than one course. Courses are a nice combination of “old Florida” as well as newer layouts. Lake Venice Golf Club, for example, is reminiscent of old Florida and has three courses with distinct layouts, all bordered by palms and pines. Pelican Pointe is more modern. It’s located in a beautiful natural setting, with lakes that are home to alligators and herons.
This area of Florida is well known for its amazing fishing. Fish from the pier, bring your boat, or charter one once you arrive in Venice. There’s something for everyone, including the beginner who wants to stay on the pier to an experienced angler who wants to go deep-sea fishing for red snapper.
Downtown shops and restaurants
You’ll enjoy shopping at the area’s countless charming shops, with over 130 in the downtown area alone. The community also has an array of restaurants that highlight cuisine from almost any part of the globe. Take a stroll through the area, and you’re sure to appreciate its gorgeous Italian-inspired architecture and boulevards.
The community may be relatively small, but it’s rich in cultural opportunities. Visit the Art Center, Theatre, or enjoy a concert at the area’s symphony. They provide an excellent, enjoyable chance to unwind and cool off, taking a break from more active pursuits.
In Venice Beach, there’s plenty to see and do. The community has plenty of activities to appeal to the entire family, no matter how varied their interests. When looking for a place to stay, contact Inn at the Beach, the only hotel on Venice Beach!
