Annual Venice, Florida Boat Parade
by Dee Paul
The Annual Venice Boat Parade is scheduled (as always,) for the first Saturday in December, which this year is December 3rd. Starting time is 6 PM. Thousands of spectators line the Intracoastal Waterway here in Venice to watch this popular event. Participants spend countless hours drawing up plans and constructing the infrastructure on their boats to display their lighted themes. Nearly a hundred boaters show their Christmas spirit in their own unique style. Utilizing whatever music suits their theme, the combination of lights, performers, automated characters, and lots of good cheer, provides an exciting feast for the eyes! Nearly every style and size boat powers slowly along the waterway parade route as spectators cheer, and sometimes call out to the boaters. Each boat is scored by a panel of judges. Last year’s winner was a phenomenal arrangement of lights and sound, producing the effect of a toy locomotive. Viewers knew it was a boat, but it looked like a train, chugging along on the water. Guests at Inn At The Beach can walk, or drive less than a mile to the Waterway just past the Crow’s Nest Restaurant ending at at Higel Park. But all spectators can bring their lawn chairs to any public area along the Intracoastal Waterway. You may also want to bring a jacket or blanket because it can get pretty breezy by the water. Hope you can schedule your next visit to Inn At The Beach in time for the Annual Boat Show!
